Thomas F. Vail, DPM, ABFAS
Thomas F. Vail, DPM, ABFAS, is a podiatric physician and board-certified podiatric surgeon with over 34 years of experience. He is an author, public speaker, educator, and the owner of Step Alive Foot & Ankle Center, which he founded in 1988.
Dr. Vail is a native of Cleveland, OH. He graduated cum laude from Xavier University in Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Arts. Medical school followed at the prestigious Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, OH, where Dr. Vail graduated with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. His postgraduate training included a surgical residency in Youngstown, OH and specialized training in minimal incision techniques in South Bend, IN.
Dr. Vail is board certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and is a Fellow with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Diabetes Association. He is on staff at Blanchard Valley Wound Care Center in Findlay as well as the Findlay Surgery Center and Bluffton Hospital.
For the local Findlay Courier Newspaper, Dr. Vail has authored many articles for their “Weekend Doctor” section. He has written many books, such as “Secrets to Foot and Ankle Health,” “Kick Heel Pain,” “Weekend Doctor,” “Diabetes and Your Feet...Steps to an Easier Life,” “Got Feet?” and more. He writes these books, and provides free e-books and DVDs to Ohio residents, because he believes “too many people suffer from foot pain unnecessarily.” Dr. Vail is committed to community outreach and raises awareness about foot and ankle health as a public speaker and educator.
